Core Tip: The price of carbon steel plate in US keeps declining owing to soft demand as the ex-work prices of hot rolled coil and cold roll

The price of carbon steel plate in US keeps declining owing to soft demand as the ex-work prices of hot rolled coil and cold rolled coil have been down to US$600~620/short ton from US$610~630/short ton and to US$710~730/short ton from US$720~740/short ton.

On the other hand, the price of hot dipped galvanized steel remains at around US$780~790/short ton.

Despite the US steel mills raise their prices month by month since last October to January this year, domestic demand remains in the doldrums. The market is expected that the steel mills will launch a new round of price increases, but the prices are still difficult to truly rebound before the demand revival.

Therefore, steel mills and distributors are hoping that the scrap prices for March will soar apparently to 00support the prices of carbon steel flat products.
